About Isabel Ferrell

Hello! I am a current third year student at Scripps College studying Media Studies and Sociology. Though I'm enthusiastic about all things video production, my particular interests include directing, assistant directing, editing, and practical effects - especially within the horror and sci-fi genres. Film and media theory is another aspect of Media Studies that fascinates me; I love to read theory on the subjects that interest me most (e.g, gender expression in horror films) and am working on writing some of my own that I hope to publish. Due to recent work experiences, I’ve developed an interest in film festival programming and operations as well. Finally, as a longtime lover of learning, education has been a passion of mine, from teaching and volunteering with kids of all ages to my curiosity in educational media and children’s television programming. In terms of what matters to me most in my work, building and supporting community has driven every position I’ve held and will continue to hold in the future. As the Vice President of 5x5 Films at The Claremont Colleges, I currently work to provide resources for student filmmakers and build greater connections within the film community at the five Claremont Colleges.
