About Isabelle Lecomte

I am a permanent full-time Professor at the University of Bergen, Department of Earth Science. I am also having an adjunct position at NORSAR as Visiting Professor, after working there 1991-2016. I had previously an adjunct Associate Professor position at the University of Oslo, 2012-2016. Research and educations in geophysics with focus on seismic modelling and imaging, especially using ray-based methods, still primarily towards O&G Applications but interested in all kind of reservoirs (CO2, geothermal, water, etc). Experience in finite-difference (FD) modelling, eikonal solver, hybrid FD-RT, resolution and illumination in PSDM, PSDM simulator, Generalized Diffraction Tomography. Since 2003, interested in near-surface geophysics, especially for geohazard assessement and monitoring (all seismics, GPR, ERT, etc), but not only. Geophysics (here in the sense of Solid Earth Physics) is much more than just what is done by the O&G industry and very useful for society. We really need to give our young generations a wider view of what geophysics is, especially in Norway.
