Background

About Isabelle Plaisance

As an effective public speaker and eager-learner, I aim to address multifaceted issues in women’s health, such as the ongoing and unaddressed hormonal side effects of the birth control pill – whether that be from a medical, political, social, or academic standpoint. I am a Junior at Tulane University majoring in Neuroscience with minors in Philosophy and Psychology. I am spending the fall semester abroad at University of Sydney to broaden my perspective. In high school, I participated in several extracurriculars: Varsity Swim team (captain for 2 years, member for 4) The Navigator – Online Newspaper (editor-in-chief for 2 years, member for 4) Speech and Debate (captain for 1 year, member for 4) The Pioneer – Literary Magazine (copyeditor for 1 year, member for 4) Starbucks (barista for 1 year) School of Rock (member for 1 year) Theater (member for 1 year) Ballet (practiced for 9 years) I also maintained an academically rigorous schedule, which included AP Statistics, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Calculus AB, AP Latin, AP Biology, AP World History, AP US History, Psychology, & Global Studies: China and Japan. Through these activities, I sharpened my self-discipline, organization, management, consistency, and constant desire to learn and improve. At Tulane, I’m engaging in honors activities and clubs such as the BAM Scholar Society and Tulane Neuroscience Association. I’m a committed member and Data Officer for Tulane Rowing and find passion in being part of (and analyzing) the crew.
