Background

About Isabelle Whetsel

In elementary school, I read the entire Mayo Clinic Family Health Book cover to cover mispronouncing diagnoses and discovering rare diseases. Since that time, I’ve passionately pursued science, particularly biology, chemistry, and the clinical and translational applications of medicine. I've done multiple biology research internships from academic to clinical science, microbiology to pathology, and learning all along the way In my sophomore year, I fell in love with the intricacies of problem-solving in Computer Science. I am now pursuing a joint degree in Computer Science and Biology at Wellesley College. Since I first discovered them, I've passionately daydreamed about combining the two fields, harnessing their strength, and improving the everyday lives of humans. Additionally, I am a Peer Tutor at Schoolhouse.world in a range of subjects and have joined a variety of specific tutoring projects within the organization while discovering my love for teaching and sharing my knowledge. I was a regular babysitter for children aged 5 months to 13 years old caring for up to 6 children at a time. I performed regular caregiving responsibilities such as baths, diapers, cooking, feeding, cleaning, laundry, taking them to the park, assisting the older ones with homework, and most importantly kissing boo-boos and chasing monsters away. I am an avid reader, collect quotes, and am a competitive rower but most weekends you can find me following the latest F1 race or news.
