About Isaiah Chea

I am currently a senior at the University of Washington in the Material Science and Engineering department. Throughout the past two quarters of this school year, I have been organizing and designing experiments for my research group and my senior capstone project. My research project involved designing and preparing a degradation chamber experiment to determine the biodegradability of bio composite polymers with the supervision of a PhD student. I led the senior capstone project where my team has designed and is currently conducting characterization of photopolymer parts from Boeing with coatings to determine the protective capabilities of various coatings. Both projects prove my capabilities to design experiments and justify the best materials for predetermined applications based off the data gathered. Working as the project lead in my senior capstone project has allowed me to gain some experience in project management and organization. I have also worked at the YMCA where I worked with very diverse groups of people which have allowed me to develop effective interpersonal skills to work with and for many different groups. The combination of these skills and experiences makes me an excellent candidate for the Engineering role. • Knowledge of materials science, processing, and manufacturing • Experience conducting characterization of materials to analyze thermal, electrical, mechanical, and optical properties of materials • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel • Experience with Solidworks, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Fusion 360 • Effective leadership skills and project management as demonstrated through student assignments and past work experiences
