About Isaiah Walker

I obtained my B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro where I studied Geography and concentrated in Urban Planning. As an orientation leader and peer academic instructor, I solidified my strengths as a facilitator, team player, and leader. Following graduation, I interned with the Planning and GIS team in the Division of State Parks and Recreation, for the North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.During my internship, I frequently communicated across internal agencies with Grants and Outreach, Land Acquisition, and Data Analytics. In fulfilling this role, I was also responsible for developing a mobile phone application using Field Maps. This app was designed for state park rangers and staff to record boundary-marking tasks and maintain trail infrastructure from their mobile devices. My additional functions consisted of reviewing site plans, generating subject maps, and geo-referencing land surveys. I am strongly interested in helping others and contributing meaningful ideas and strategies that promote accessibility, equity, sustainability, and innovative solutions. With experience in both retail and the food service industries, my strengths include customer service and hospitality, time management, problem-solving, alongside other administrative functions. My skill set includes organization, listening, written, and verbal communication, record-keeping in Microsoft Office Suite, and visual presentations using ArcGIS Pro Software, and ESRI Desktop Products. I look forward to collaborating with a diverse, like-minded team, within an environment amongst individuals who are representative of the community in which they serve.
