I am the social media strategist at Dave Campbell's Texas Football, and the managing editor of Texas Basketball, a high school and college basketball website, streaming platform and magazine that covers over teams in Texas including every men’s and women’s college program with a team of contracted writers and designers. I previously served as head of the outlet’s college sports content. Before this, I was the sports editor of the San Marcos Daily Record newspaper where I covered Texas State Athletics and San Marcos High School. Outside of my primary reporting assignments, I also designed the sports page and took photos at sporting events for a newspaper that printed five days a week. I graduated from Texas State University in the fall of 2014 with a bachelor of science degree in journalism and a double minor in business administration and media studies. I am currently enrolled at CUNY's John Jay School of Criminal Justice pursuing my MPA. I wrote pieces on culture-at-large for Defiant Wriot, a blog page dedicated to the black perspective of news with other black writers at Texas State. My topics ranged from Kendrick Lamar, to WWE, to the Freddie Gray protests in Baltimore. Before graduating I was apart of the KTSW 89.9-FM sports staff acting as the assistant sports director from Spring 2013 until the Fall 2014. KTSW is the student-run indie-formatted radio station of Texas State and through my position I gained on-air skills from being one of the primary radio hosts on the sports talk radio show and a contributing color commentator for women's college soccer and men's basketball. I was formerly an intern at VoiceBox Media, an independent nonprofit media organization dedicated to the covering and promotion of non-governmental nonprofit charities around the state. While in college, I wrote for the University Star, the independent student-run newspaper of Texas State where my beats included men's basketball, baseball and track and field. I was briefly the assistant sports editor before taking my current position at the Daily Record.
