About Islam Elnashar

I hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Alexandria University in Egypt and I have 33 years of Oil and Gas Operations experience from Egypt, North Sea, Milan, Abu Dhabi and Azerbaijan. I have strong personal commitment for safety leadership with technical strength in Risk Management, Process Safety, Integrity Management, and solid knowledge of compliance requirements and how they can best be implemented. I lead my team with positive discipline and effective delegation to focus on delivering the work programs approved by shareholders via maximizing production safely, top quality of operations, full optimization of the operating expenses and wise in capital investments, where the results are monitored and reported through key performance indicators. Since Jan 2021 I am the Country Manager and Chief Operations Officer of Scimitar Production Egypt, representing the shareholders in front of the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum for operational and commercial aspects, additionally I reset the company operations to the international standard for safe, reliable, and compliant operations, upgrading the manpower competency (skills, knowledge, and behaviors). From 2016 to 2020, I was the General Manager and Managing Director of Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO). In this role, I was accountable for the general conduct of the GUPCO’s business, policies and major issues, managing, controlling and coordinating all of GUPCO's operations and activities including dealing with all contractors and sub-contractors according to the concession agreement and By-Laws, and ensuring that GUPCO's objectives and goals are reflected in effectual divisional and departmental work programs and budgets. In parallel I was the Vice President Operations for BP Egypt - NOJVs, chairing the operations capability forum, assessing the members for promotions, improving performance plans, preparing and finding the suitable overseas and in country assignments to support their career path and development plans through my international BP networking. In November 2013, I was appointed to the position of General Manager and Managing Director for the Pharaonic Petroleum Company (PhPC), BP Joint Venture in Egypt. In July 2011, I joined BP-AGT Region as an Offshore Operations Manager for the Azeri Area for three years overseas assignment. Details are in my CV
