Homo sapiens belongs to the family Hominidae and the genus Homo, which includes other extinct species of early humans, such as Homo neanderthalensis and Homo erectus. The main characteristics of Homo sapiens include: A large and developed brain that enables abstract thinking, creativity, and language. Upright walking (bipedalism). The use of advanced tools and the ability to create complex technologies. The ability to live in complex societies and develop culture, art, and diverse social frameworks. The species first appeared around to years ago in Africa and later spread to other parts of the world. Homo sapiens is currently the only surviving species of the genus Homo.
