About Itzia Herrera

I am a Security Officer at The Huntington, where I protect and preserve the priceless collections of art, rare books, and botanical gardens. I monitor the security systems, patrol the premises, and respond to emergencies. I also assist visitors and staff with inquiries and directions, and ensure compliance with safety and health protocols. I am passionate about art history and conservation, and I am pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Art History, Criticism and Conservation at California State University-San Bernardino, after completing an Associate's degree in the same field at Chaffey College. I have developed my skills in art handling, framing, documenting, and preservation through my previous experience as a Picture Framer at Michaels Stores, where I helped customers design and fit frames and mats for various artworks and artifacts. I also have experience in cataloging, researching, and analyzing artworks and historical materials, and I have a keen interest in decorative arts. My goal is to advance my career in art conservation and restoration, and to contribute to the cultural and educational mission of museums and galleries.
