My current research focus is the investigation and design of novel biomaterials for repair and replacement of musculoskeletal tissue following injury. Specifically, I focused on recapitulating salient features of the skeletal muscle microenvironment such as stiffness, conductivity, and anisotropy to treat pathologies such as volumetric muscle loss and orthopedic injuries at muscle-tendon junctions. I tackling this problem by engineering hyaluronic acid base hydrogels and conductive collagen composites with tunable biophysical properties for downstream in vitro and in vivo experiments.
