About Ivan Blasutig

As a Clinical Biochemist I am a member of medical and scientific staff, and am responsible for setting the standards of performance for the Clinical Biochemistry Laboratory. I utilize my clinical and technical expertise of biomarkers to guide the selection of analyses to be performed by the laboratory, ensure quality of results and assist physicians with test selection and interpretation of results. My role as Laboratory Director falls under the Ontario Laboratory and Specimen Collection Centre Licensing Act, and includes responsibility for the administration of the scientific and technical operations of the laboratory, including defining, implementing and monitoring standards of performance to ensure medically reliable results are being reported. In 2020, I took on the role of EORLA Quality Lead. Roles and responsibilities include oversight of the corporate quality management system, Chairing the EORLA Quality Committee, and participating in regional and executive leadership committees. As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Ottawa, I undertake various academic activities. A link to my publications can be found at:
