About Ivan Luxenberg

I am not the "typical" mediator (maybe you already sense that from my profile photo). My mediation style combines humour, stoicism and what I like to call my "panoramic view" of the case. I like to bring out my bag of props (when appropriate) and lighten the mood/make the parties more comfortable with humour. Having acted for both plaintiffs and insurers has helped give me that panoramic lens I mentioned. As a litigator, I have experience with various types of insurance claims including accident benefits, negligence, occupier’s liability, personal injury, disability, general liability (you get the picture). As a result of my experience with those cases, I enjoy mediating all kinds of cases, even the complex multiparty cases. My goal, as any mediator's goal would be, is to get the case settled. Of course, we know this is not always possible, so the next best thing is having the parties gain insight into the opposing side's position and narrowing down the issues.
