About Ivan Meiszinger

After obtaining an honours degree in Kinesiology, I completed a masters degree in Global Health followed by my Medical Degree. Thanks to many unique life experiences, I've developed a wide range of interests including global health, athletics, rehabilitation, medicine and the special needs community. I have developed a passion to see health disparities mitigated in both the developing and developed world. I've been fortunate to be able to travel to a number of developed (North America, Europe, Australia) and developing countries (India, Thailand, Uganda, Kenya, Dominican Republic) and witnessed glaring differences in health care access and quality. Through my graduate degree I learned to see these disparities in a comprehensive light that acknowledges the political, social, economic and cultural determinants of health. This degree also led to an internship with Hope Story Canada, where I travelled to rural Kenya and helped evaluate their various health initiatives. I recently completed my family medicine residency in Belleville, Ontario through Queens University. I now look forward to starting my career as a hospitalist physician at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. I’m looking forward to opportunities to serve the global population with my medical knowledge. I’m excited for future opportunities to work in a multidisciplinary medical team anywhere in the world I’m needed. I've been influenced from an early age to be a creative, hard working team member that seeks to value the input of individuals from various walks of life. I believe these characteristics will allow me to be a valuable colleague in a professional work environment.
