About Ivan Nikulin

With a background in competitive programming during school years, having worked on codebases and projects of both small and big sizes, I became a seasoned backend developer with a not-so-secret passion for frontend as well. I have worked both as a product engineer and as an internal tooling specialist. During my projects I also had to solve a lot of organizational challenges, ranging from collaborating in small feature teams of a couple of people to setting up workflows and processes for the Engineering organization of 500+ developers. I value quality and customer/developer experience dearly, which is one of the many manifestations of my empathy towards customers and coworkers. I consider empathy to be one (if not the top 1) of my defining features as a specialist and as a human being. I also consider myself a very good learner - I was quick to learn many different technologies and concepts through practice and put them in use straight away (which is how I absolutely unexpectedly fell in love in CSS ), and I'm always open to learn more. And finally, I'm also very eager to share whatever I learn if I feel like I'm good enough at it and I can see that it's relevant for others as well. For example, I was one of the speakers on the Digit 2023 conference, presenting about Bolt's opinionated approach to configuration management, and I also released a series of 3 lectures (a trilogy, if you will) on advanced practical usage of Typescript. My preferred stack is NodeJS + Typescript, but I'm open to opportunities. I'm a particular fan of Typescript and I've been using its robust type system to improve type safety and development experience for a variety of challenging use cases, with pleasure and great eagerness :)
