About Ivan Orozco Vasquez

As an undergraduate academic assistant at The University of British Columbia, I support the teaching and learning activities of the Cognitive Systems program, which integrates computer science, psychology, philosophy, and linguistics. I have been working in this role for seven months, thanks to the International Undergraduate Research Award that I received in July 2023. This award enabled me to work full-time on a research project that explores the applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning in cognitive science. I have also gained valuable skills in software development and Python programming, which I use to create and test various models and algorithms. Before joining UBC, I worked as a gelato maker at Kitchen Table Restaurants for over a year, where I learned how to craft delicious and creative flavors, as well as how to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. I am passionate about the intersection of technology, cognition, and human behavior, and I aim to pursue a career that allows me to use my knowledge and skills to solve complex and meaningful problems. I am currently in my fourth year of pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Systems, and I expect to graduate in April 2025.
