Background
About Ivan Pecenica
Hi, I am Ivan. I am currently working as a cashier/salesman in a small chain of grocery stores, and working on my Master's degree. During my Master's studies, I am going to be focused on learning how to program in R, Bash, and Python, the reasons for that being: 1) To become able to find employment in the bioinformatics field, and to increase my chances of getting employed as a molecular biologist in any role after I finish my Master's studies. 2) To become able to work as a programmer, if I find myself unable to find any molecular biology-related jobs, including those related to bioinformatics. Other things I will work on learning during my Master's studies are fieldwork as a biologist (searching for specimens in teams), and lab work, mostly focusing on protein analysis, to increase my chances of getting employed as a molecular biologist/ biologist, and to learn the basics of lab work, that I might find useful in the future. During my elementary studies, I gained a good theoretical knowledge of molecular biology, but my practical knowledge is lacking due to various reasons. I hope to make up for that during my Master's studies. As for my job experience, I have spent quite some time working as a freelance content and academic writer (I was writing master's papers, CVs, and even some scientific papers), but it wasn't paid well. I have some experience working as a warehouseman in the warehouse of laboratory equipment (no barcodes were used, so I had to rely on memory), and salesman in a small chain of grocery stores (I receive goods, sort them, count them, write barcodes, work as a cashier, do some administrative work in excel, order goods, sell them, etc.). My hope is to one day be able to work in an academic or industry setting using my degree, for higher pay. I am currently open to work, and willing to learn if any better opportunity appears. That opportunity would need to be time-flexible and offer a higher pay than my current job. I am currently able to negotiate shifts with my bosses, and I need that to be able to finish my university obligations. That is a must. I would accept a less paid job, or even volunteer if a job is related to molecular biology/biology. If you read this, please consider it. I am willing to learn, and I can learn fast, so I would adapt to the new role fast.
