About Ivan Tacey
With a deep commitment to understanding what makes us human, my work as a four-field anthropologist has centred on long-term ethnographic research with the Batek hunter-gatherers and post-foragers of Peninsular Malaysia. My research and teaching explore themes of egalitarianism, social inequalities, violence, non-violence, and the anthropology of religion, the body, and landscape. I am passionate about multi-modality—including visual anthropology, games, virtual reality, and digital worlds—and am deeply committed to decolonizing both research and pedagogy. Currently, I am developing a series of research papers examining cosmopolitics, affect, and uncertainty in Southeast Asia.
