About Ivana Goranic

IVANA GORANIC Rule of Law expert (Mobile:+385 91 753 1154, mail: goranic.ivana@gmail.com) Ivana Goranic started to work as independent expert since 1 January 2020. She worked as the STE in few EU/CoE projects (horisontal activity in rule of law - EU and CoE, in Montenegro, Serbia and Armenia, Croatia) and as a key expert (judicial training) in EU project in the North Macedonia (July - December 2020). In 2021-2022 she started to work as KE in the EU project in North Macedonia on the Negotiation Structurs in EU accession process and in EU/CoE project on development and promotion of ADR in Turkey. Previously she was the Rule of Law Expert - Justice and Home Affairs since April 2016, after two years working as Expert on Governance for Growth (Justice Dimension) at the Regional Cooperation Council (June 2014-December 2019). Born1959 in Zagreb, Republic of Croatia, graduated at the Faculty of Law, Zagreb University (1983). After a practise at the Municipal Court she passed the Bar Exam (1990) and the rest of the carrier worked as a civil servant. Ivana graduated on the Diplomatic Academy in 1997, on the right to privacy and freedom of expression in the case law of the European Court for Human Rights and passed the exam on mechanismas for protection of human rights on the 'Robert Schumman Insitute' in Strasbourg 1995. From 1993-1996 she has been working as a Head of the Department for the mutual assistance and international cooperation at the Ministry of Justice. Her carrier at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Croatia started in 1996 (Deputy Head of Human Rights Department). From to 2008 she has worked as Minister Counsellor at the Croatian Embassy in Vienna and at the Croatian Permanent Mission to UN, OSCE and other international organizations in Vienna. From 2008-2013 she has been working as Director of Judicial Academy having the active role in the Croatian negotiations with EU in Chapter 23 and 24. Ivana was a member of numerous governmental and international bodies, structures and institutions and during that period published ca 30 articles regarding human rights protection, case law of the European Court for Human Rights, court system, judicial training in EU and participated in numerous international seminars, EU projects and conferences as the speaker. She was Council of Europe’s expert regarding independence of judiciary and was a project leader in three EU projects (PHARE and IPA) on the judicial reform in Croatia, as well as in a few bilateral projects in the same field.
