About Ivette Herrera

With six years of administrative experience and three years in human resources, I bring a strong foundation in recruitment, advising, and program coordination that directly supports my work in vocational rehabilitation and career counseling. As a Team Lead and Employment Consultant at Kootenay Employment Services / WorkBC, I have guided clients through career exploration, skills assessments, and individualized employment planning. My role includes supporting diverse and vulnerable populations with a trauma-informed and inclusive approach, while also mentoring staff, ensuring policy compliance, and delivering employment programs that align with labour market needs. I completed the Associate Certificate in Leadership and Conflict Resolution through the Justice Institute of BC, which enhanced my ability to apply adaptive leadership, emotional intelligence, and collaborative problem-solving in counseling and case management contexts. I am also nearing completion of my Bachelor of Labour Relations and Human Resources at Athabasca University, which has strengthened my knowledge of labour law, organizational development, and HR practices. In addition, I am actively working towards my Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP) designation to formalize my vocational rehabilitation expertise. Bilingual in Spanish and English, I am proficient with HR and CRM systems such as ICM, Meditech, People Central, HUMI, and HRIS. I also bring a strong understanding of local and provincial labour markets, training opportunities, and job search strategies. My goal is to continue leveraging these skills to empower clients in achieving sustainable employment, support individuals with complex barriers, and contribute to the advancement of vocational rehabilitation practice.
