About Izabela Oquendo

I have never been one to take the traditional route and my career is no exception. I am a first-generation college student from a Polish family and have forged my path to a career in higher education. I have bounced around industries from insurance, to real estate, and finally to my home in higher ed. I would say that I'm business-oriented, sales-experienced, and people-focused, but mostly people-focused. I enjoy working with college students immensely because their futures are just so wide open. I remember that feeling and I strive to help them realize their potential in this sometimes confusing world. My experience in advising and teaching, both in person and online, has been invaluable. I enjoy having discussions with my students about real-world issues because I think it is so important to know where the next generation's head is at. It's refreshing to hear optimism! Our students really are the future and I hope to continuing doing whatever I can to enhance their success.
