About Izabela Pinheiro

Psychologist | PhD Candidate in Psychology | Researcher in Migration, Mental Health & Intersectional Feminism I am a psychologist with 12 years of experience in clinical, hospital, and community mental health settings. I hold a Master’s degree in Health Psychology and I am currently a PhD candidate in Psychology at the University of Porto (Portugal), where I collaborate with the Diversity, Gender and Sexuality Research Group (CPUP). My research focuses on the intersections of migration, mental health, gender, and race, grounded in intersectional, feminist, and decolonial approaches. I investigate how power structures shape access to psychological care for racialized migrant women in Portugal. As a member of the Federal Council of Psychology (Brazil), I promote multicultural competencies and culturally responsive, anti-racist psychological practices. I have published peer-reviewed articles, contributed to international conferences, and collaborated with NGOs and research collectives in Brazil and Portugal, focusing on mental health equity, gender justice, and human rights.
