About Izza Aftab

I am a highly qualified and experienced academic with a PhD in Economics from The New School for Social Research. I have held several teaching positions at universities in Canada and Pakistan, including Conestoga College, Centennial College, Beaconhouse National University, and the Information Technology University. I have also served as the Dean of School of Humanities and Social Sciences and Head of Department of Economics in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Information Technology University. I have several years of experience with fund raising and project management. I was the Program Director for the Safer Society for Children, a US Embassy-funded project, and the Director for the SDG Tech Lab. The latter was funded by UNDP and UNFPA Pakistan. I have authored several academic publications and op-eds, and received research grants from prestigious organizations like Google, UNESCO, and the World Health Organization. I am part of a two person team that is Pakistan's first ever recipient of research funding under UNESCO's IFCD program. This project will quantify and measure the contribution of cultural and creative trades in Pakistan's GDP. Moreover, it will help strengthen data collection techniques in the global south.
