As of January 1, 2024, Scott transitioned to "Of Counsel" with the firm he founded in 1993. Scott handles only a handful of direct referral and specialty cases. Scott's had a trial practice for over 35 years and won over 110 district court jury trials in state and federal courts, against attorneys from 15 different states. He handled a broad spectrum of cases ranging from product liability, wildfire liability, oil well and refinery failures, professional liability and licensing to explosions and intellectual property theft and misappropriation. He has tried Lanham Act cases; defended neurosurgeons and attorneys; protected property owners, truckers, home and business owners and Fortune 500 companies. He represented licensed professionals in board actions and malpractice suits. He was hired to both originate defenses and to take over cases in all stages of litigation. Scott was hired to manage and defend catastrophic injury, death and property damage lawsuits, complex commercial litigations and has successfully litigated cases with values over 100 million dollars. He was hired on cases throughout the western United States, including CO, NV, TX, CA, UT, NM and WY. Scott and his partners lead trial crisis management teams that intervene into problematic cases. With no preparation, he and his team once took over the defense of a jury trial 3 hours after the trial started and in 4 days obtained a directed verdict for the firm's client. Scott is a consultant and policy advisor to claim professionals across the country and in Canada, is a zealous defender of the truth and integrity, and has preserved hundreds of millions of dollars in client assets. He is a passionate advocate for the protection of the risk sharing and risk management industries and is a passionate advocate against the shameless profiteering that is ruining the intent and equity of the risk sharing population (those who own or who are covered for risk by insurance policies).
