About Jacey Bunn

My name is Jacey Bunn, and I plan to graduate with my bachelor’s degree (B.S) in Psychology and a minor in Family studies in the fall of 2022. Throughout my life, I have been passionate about obtaining vital skills and education to provide prospering environments for children. Child development and psychology have always been something that I have been intrigued by due to my own personal experiences. This is why I chose to minor in Family Studies because I have seen and understood the detrimental effects that a poor family dynamic can have on academic and development behaviors and success. When living at home, I volunteer at a Therapeutic Riding Center where I have the privilege to encourage children with special needs, learning disabilities, and anger issues to think positively during sessions by providing comfort and meaningful communication. Along with this, I worked and volunteered in a memory care unit within a retirement facility. I planned and organized activities such as movie nights, self-care workshops, and trips to local restaurants. This job was the best experience because I was able to be a steady face for them to see every day. I was able to see their decline in cognitive abilities, and how dementia and brain damage affects their psychological well-being. I have excelled academically at James Madison University, along with being involved in multiple organizations on campus. Academics are extremely important to me, but being a part of the surrounding community has allowed me to become a well-rounded individual. I am a member of the Psychology Club, Zeta Tau Alpha, and work at the University Recreation Center. With having multiple commitments, I still have been able to learn the importance of time management and responsibility.
