About Jack Barron

I am currently pursuing a Master’s of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling to aid individuals struggling with substance misuse and abuse issues to assist in avoiding imprisonment. I view imprisonment for substance issues as a miscarriage of justice, therefore I hope to help remedy these injustices, by working directly with individuals to help support them as they face these issues. As someone who saw the repercussions of the financial crisis on a personal level and the lack of accountability for its architects, I understood very early in my life that I despise injustice. Although this has gone through several iterations, expanding to encompass more realms like the environment, hence the City and Regional Planning major, after discovering Criminology in my Undergraduate studies I understood the inequalities created both by society and the criminal justice system is what truly interested me. Although the major societal structures seem impossible to influence, the criminal justice system being one of them, I have realized you can influence them, one individual, at a time. In turn, I am excited to continue my education as a Mental Health Counselor and serve my community, integrating my knowledge from my undergraduate experiences, to aid in addiction treatment.
