About Jack Davis
As a teaching professor at the University of Waterloo, I teach courses on the practical and computational side of undergraduate and graduate statistics. I also design courses like sports analytics and mathematical joy, and redesign courses like data visualization and exploratory data analysis. I have a PhD in Statistics from Simon Fraser University, and I did a postdoc writing a hockey game prediction system for Sportlogiq, and was a statisitican/survey designer/visualization designer at Big River Analytics. I copyedit academic papers for the Canadian Journal of Statistics. I wrote a book on scientific communication as a open educational resource, and I am currently writing a book on sports analytics aimed undergrad math/stats/data science students for CRC press, and planning a book on using data science to identify and eliminate unused laws using data science aimed at the general public.
