Starting my career in Information Technology in former AMRO Bank NV I switched to the auditing profession in 1992. Having performed many roles within Internal Audit of Banking and Financial Services industry, domestic and internation, l was able to build a sound basis of auditing and managing skills, competences and experience. During my career I was part of the professionalization of the audit discipline and witnessed the increasing complexity of regulations and compliance requirements. To manage the challenges experienced by (internal) audit organization it is key to invest in skills, competences and intrinsic motivation of its key assetts i.e. the auditors. Succes of Internal Audit is determined by the engagement and performance of the audit team. This should not only reflect in sound audits in accordance with professional standards and but to present, discuss and agree on improvements with various levels of stakeholders
