Background
About Jack Evans
I have graduated with a 2:1 undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Ethics, and Religion at Liverpool Hope University. Alongside my studies, I was the president and co-founder of the Queer Adventurers Society, and was elected to be the Trans and Non-Binary Student Union Representative for two consecutive years. This role was the highlight of my university experience, as it allowed me to make changes for the transgender and wider LGBT+ community at Liverpool Hope. My biggest accomplishment in this role has been a project called 'Pink, White & Blue Liverpool', which is a guidebook I created alongside the Student's Union. It is filled with safe spaces for Trans students across the city of Liverpool. This guide has helped many trans students moving to Liverpool feel comfortable and safe knowing that there is a safe community out there to support them. I now work for the LGBT Foundation as their peer support programme officer, a new role for me as of May 2023. I will be working alongside the well-being team to provide support for the LGBT community in a variety of ways. I am passionate about mental well-being, especially for LGBT people, who face hardship daily. My lived experience has given me insight into what my community really needs to thrive in terms of wellbeing. I am dedicated to giving the LGBTQ+ community a voice, and making positive changes for the group I have found a home in. The well-being of my community is so important to me, and I hope to work with others to create a world where nobody is isolated or alone for being themselves. To be your most authentic self is the bravest thing you can possibly do, and this should be celebrated.
