About Jack Greenberg

Jack Greenberg is a PhD candidate in political science at Yale University and a resident graduate affiliate of Yale’s Institution for Social and Policy Studies. His research focuses on American presidential leadership in the separation-of-powers system. His first book, Congressional Expectations of Presidential Self-Restraint (co-authored with John Dearborn of Vanderbilt and forthcoming with Cambridge University Press), focuses on executive-legislative relations with respect to post-Watergate appointment politics. His second book project, “The President’s First Moves: The Dynamics of Agenda Construction, 1968-2022,” explores how presidents develop their initial domestic policy agendas; portions of it have been published in Presidential Studies Quarterly and in Evaluating the Obama Presidency: From Transformational Goals to Governing Realities (De Gruyter 2024). He earned an M.A. and M.Phil. in political science and a certificate in college teaching preparation from Yale, and he received his B.A. in political science, history, and leadership studies from Williams College.
