Background
About Jack Hatcher
Passionate and Impact-driven Civil and Environmental Engineering student dedicated to making a positive impact on society and driving change. Committed to utilizing my skills and knowledge to address pressing global challenges and create a better world. As a student at George Washington University pursuing a major in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a minor in Political Science, I am building a solid foundation in engineering principles while also developing a comprehensive understanding of the social and political aspects of our world. Driven by a strong desire to create meaningful change, I have actively engaged in extracurricular activities to make a difference. As a leader of an Engineers without Borders team at George Washington University, I collaborated with a diverse group of students, the Yumbe community, EWB representatives, and a community-focused NGO called Nested Savings to fundraise, design, and implement a learning center in Yumbe, Uganda. This transformative project empowered education and positively impacted the lives of those in need. Additionally, as a team leader for GWU's Honey Nashman Center, I organize and lead a group of interns in volunteering at A Wider Circle, contributing to their mission of ending poverty. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of community-driven initiatives and the importance of collective efforts in creating lasting change. While continuing my studies, I am currently working as a Research Associate at DC Water, where I am actively involved in research and assisting with a Pilot Program aimed at developing sustainable and cost-effective solutions for wastewater management. This hands-on experience allows me to apply my engineering knowledge to real-world challenges and contribute to creating a more sustainable future. By combining my academic pursuits with practical experiences, I am preparing myself to become a future leader in driving sustainable development, environmental stewardship, and social equity. I am eager to collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations to create positive change that transcends boundaries. Together, let's shape a better world through engineering, advocacy, and innovation.
