About Jack Lathrop

I am an ambitious and dedicated construction professional currently serving as a Field Engineer Intern at MYCON General Contractors, where I am gaining in-depth experience in the construction industry. In my current role, I collaborate closely with Project Engineers and Project Managers to support on-site project operations, including managing RFIs, coordinating various trades, overseeing vendor deliveries, scheduling, and creating daily project reports. My contributions help ensure the smooth execution of projects while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality. This experience is broadening my understanding of the entire construction process, from preconstruction to project close-out. Before my role at MYCON, I worked as a Laborer/Operator at Fritcher Construction Services. Here, I began as a laborer and worked my way toward becoming a beginner heavy equipment operator. I gained hands-on experience operating machinery such as skid steers, bulldozers, excavators, mini-excavators, compactors, and front-end loaders in the earthworks phase of construction projects. This position provided me with valuable practical knowledge in heavy equipment operation and site preparation, contributing to my comprehensive understanding of the physical aspects of construction. Earlier in my career, I spent almost four years at Brookshire Grocery Company, where I developed strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills. I began as a Courtesy Clerk, providing customer service and assisting with stocking and organizing products. I was promoted to a Produce Stocker, where I played a key role in coordinating orders, managing inventory, and communicating with other departments and stores across East Texas. I also had the opportunity to serve as the new employee trainer, where I demonstrated leadership and training capabilities. During my tenure, I was honored with both the "Employee of the Month" award and the "BGC Hero Award" for my contributions to the team.
