About Jack Leaning

With only 8 years of working experience in my life, I found out quickly that I had traits that many did not. Starting with my attention to detail, work ethic, and dependability, I became a valuable asset to all my previous employers including my present. I found myself working at a winery, where I maintained the grounds and managed the kitchen on the weekends. With always being an outdoorsy person, I genuinely enjoyed the maintenance and groundskeeping. I eventually made my way into the manufacturing side of things where I began to make and bottle the wine. Knowing at this point that I enjoyed being a hands-on individual, I left the winery to work for a small co. based in Columbus, pouring concrete footers and forming stem walls for 5-family condo buildings. We worked all over Columbus, Lancaster, and Pataskala which included both private and commercial jobs. After a year working concrete, I realized quickly that being a laborer was not how I wanted to live my life. I began to feel discouraged when finding myself doing mindless things, knowing that I was capable of so much more. Once I made that realization I jumped right into welding school, hoping to better myself. Shortly into school, I found myself more capable of performing this skill than many of my peers, being someone to come to for answers, assistance, and constructive criticism. I ended up landing a job in the welding field before I officially graduated. Getting my foot in the door right away was a great feeling. I’m now 2 years into my job and have become a valuable asset to my employer. However, I seem to find myself in a position where I more often than not, still get Into mindless, discouraging work. I know I’m capable of much more and harness the ability to do big things; things that matter. I have a great attention to detail, willing to help others, and take lead where leadership may be absent. Most important characteristic of mine, I believe, is that I care about my work and refuse to do less than what I know I’m capable of.
