About Jack Nyhan

I am particularly interested in the supply chain aspect of the food and drink industry. My family were originally farmers and now operate the largest chain of retail butchers in Ireland. Prior to starting my degree, I worked for two years in the business and although I realised I didn't want a long-term career in the retail meat sector, I was fascinated by the impact of procurement decisions on both profitability and competitive advantage. During my degree, I specialised in operational planning, supply chain, as well as finance and marketing disciplines, as these are the areas that interest me the most. The world as we know it is becoming smaller and more connected, fluid and dependable supply chains are crucial for any business looking to gain a competitive edge. There are many internal and external pressures affecting businesses, having an open and questioning mind to the world around myself allows me to understand it in greater depth, enabling me to anticipate changes before they happen. A quote that resonates with the way I operate, is one of simplicity "Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated"(Confucius) The reduction of wasteful time/money/resources/ planning phases etc. is the mindset I hope to bring to any supply chain/ operations strategy provider.
