Background

About Jack Plumridge

I’m a degree-qualified Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering professional with hands-on experience across a variety of sectors. My background includes technical 2D/3D design using tools like AutoCAD and Rhino, simulation with Orcaflex, and practical experience in oil & gas well servicing, HVAC installation, and material handling. These experiences have strengthened my problem-solving skills, adaptability, and resilience in both high-pressure and physically demanding environments. After relocating permanently to Canada, I’ve expanded my capabilities by completing a backend software development bootcamp, gaining skills in Python, SQL, Docker, and AWS. This has enabled me to approach engineering challenges with a more data-driven, systems-oriented mindset — combining traditional engineering principles with modern software tools. My career has been shaped not only by technical training but also by life experience. I balanced university studies with part-time work and caregiving responsibilities, working across the UK and Western Canada. These challenges have honed my communication, leadership, and strategic thinking, all vital for collaborative, forward-looking engineering work.I’m now actively pursuing opportunities where I can contribute to engineering teams — particularly in mechanical, marine, petroleum, or field-based technical roles — while continuing to grow my skillset at the intersection of engineering and technology.Let’s connect if you’re looking for someone who’s hands-on, technically versatile and always pushing to succeed.
