Background
About Jack Stoner
I have always had a passion for learning with a direct interest in solving and understanding puzzles from an analytical perspective. This desire led me to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering. Industrial and systems engineering is different from other fields of engineering in the sense that most engineers make things, industrial and systems engineers on the other hand, make things better. Halfway through my college career, I also decided I wanted to continue my education after I graduate and acquire a Master's in Business Administration. During my senior year, I took and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. After I graduated with my bachelors, I then took and passed the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam. I took both of these exams to be closer to reaching my goal of becoming a professional engineer (PE). Through my senior capstone class, I was able to participate as an industrial and systems engineer intern to improve an existing process for Oklahoma’s largest transit agency. Afterwards, I began my OpEx engineer internship with a kaizen, continuous improvement, focus on their manufacturing process for fluid ends. During my OpEx engineer internship, I was able to take Lean Six Sigma classes, study independently, and work with industry professionals. I then took everything I had learned and passed the examination for a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. While pursuing my MBA, I have been introduced to a broader scope of topics which has enabled me to further learn how to effectively utilize my industrial and systems engineering background. I was able to work as an operations intern which enabled me to further develop my understanding of process improvement and data analysis in a real-world environment. I am excited to begin my career as an Engineer Industrial in Propulsion Systems within Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems division!
