About Jack Thomas

Dr. Jack Thomas is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in higher education administration with extensive senior-level management experience. He has held senior executive positions with various institutions including, President of two universities and interim President of one university, Department Chair, Dean, Executive Vice President, Senior Vice Provost, and Provost and Academic Vice President. Dr. Thomas’ expertise includes comprehensive budgeting, managerial, marketing and branding, enrollment, retention and graduation rates, mentoring, customer service, and fundraising activities. Dr. Thomas attended the Lowndes County, Alabama public school system, and graduated from The Calhoun High School. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Alabama A&M University, a Master’s Degree in English Education from Virginia State University, and a PhD in English- Literature and Criticism from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After presenting the commencement address, at his alma mater, Alabama A&M University, he was bestowed an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in Humanities. As a first generation college student, Dr. Thomas believes in giving back to help others. He has created endowed scholarships at Alabama A&M University, and Virginia State University.
