About Jack Werstein

In my professional practice, I employ an integrated and holistic approach, both individually and in group work. My modalities include Existential therapy, psycho-social education, sand tray therapy, art therapy, DBT and MI techniques. My work is directed towards life challenge, conflicts and coming-out concerns, while upholding one's psychosocial, physical and psychodynamic strengths and needs. I work with individuals and families from different SES & cultural backgrounds. I look and listen to addressing life issues - identity, change and developmental issues, anxiety, depression, grief, and relational difficulties connected to childhood trauma and families struggling with behavioral challenges. My philosophy is humanistic mind-body-spirit approach, relational and strength based, emphasizing resourceful and reciprocal care, especially as it concerns adolescents and their families. I received my BA from GMU, Master's in Counseling at Trinity Washington University, interned at Vesta, Inc. I provided school-based clinical services at Washington Latin PCS for over 8 years. I worked as a K-5 teacher and librarian with DCPS for 10 years. Previously, I worked at Random House for 25 years, as a senior manager.
