About Jackie Barnes

Former Languages Arts and United States Literature teacher. I recently birthed and developed a memoir titled, THIRTEEN MONTHS, THE DAY THE CLOUDS HUNG LOW. On the premise of love/hate, it depicts me becoming the first young girl-African American in US history to experience school violence involving a firearm. This incident took place in the mountains of Virginia, and the story of it lie dormant for thirty years. In the twenty-first century, it is not uncommon to hear about school violence that robs society of its peace. Parents across this world fear sending their children out in a world full of angry individuals that commit atrocities on individuals that have the right to taste and experience life in its fullest. Anger and madness cause these individuals to demand the injection of their actions on who ever is on their path. Very few of these individuals channel their anger towards the one or few people they have animosity towards. It has become a mad society, My hopes are that this story will grasp the attention of teens in today's time that consider sacrificing themselves just to be loved and accepted. This act is very prevalent among teens in the twenty-first century. THIRTEEN MONTHS, THE DAY THE CLOUDS HUNG LOW has a voice. I lived to write about it. It has been accepted for publication by two agencies, and I am continuing the movement of this story by reaching out to additional sources.
