About Jackie Li

As a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate from UC Santa Barbara, I am passionate about driving engineering advancements through innovative design and hands-on problem-solving. During my capstone project with Redwire, I led the design of a transporter for space-bound carbon fiber booms, managing structural calculations, GD & T drawings, and fabrication plans to meet stringent weight and stability standards. My role sharpened my skills in SOLIDWORKS and reinforced my commitment to precision and collaboration. In my research experience, I have tackled both the optimization of 3D-printed gear assemblies for multi-swarm robotics and the design of experimental systems to analyze cohesive granular material behavior. Working closely with researchers, I iterated 3D-printed designs to address gear meshing issues, enhancing both replicability and performance for multi-robot swarms. In parallel, I developed apparatuses for testing particle dynamics, including a Hele-Shaw cell and a compact flash-dryer emulator, which enabled precise control over airspeed and allowed for detailed analysis using high-speed cameras. Through these projects, I gained technical expertise in CAD, MATLAB, and lab equipment operation, which I’m excited to bring to a team focused on impactful engineering solutions.
