About Jackie Potter

I am an academic leader with responsibilities for the Student Education Plan and I lead the Centre for Academic Innovation and Development. We are preparing to launch our Chester Future Skills Curriculum in September 2025. Most of the university’s courses are moving to a three term delivery structure, and adopting an inclusive-by-design, competence-based curriculum that is rich in social learning opportunities for our students. At the same time, the Centre will also be launching a new Institute to enable our staff to undertake research-led professional development by providing support to collaborate on higher education pedagogic research and SoTL projects. I am a Principal Fellow of Advance HE and a Senior Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association. I was the Chair and Vice-Chair of the UK network, HEDG - Heads of Educational Development Group between 2020-2024. I was the Deputy Chair of the QAA’s Education Studies Subject Benchmark Statement Advisory Group. The statement was published in April 2025. I am currently a member of Advance HE’s external examiner resources working group and the external examiner for SEDA’s Fellowship schemes. Recent published practice and research includes papers on GenAI, inclusive curriculum and students'(gendered) perceptions of teaching excellence. I have also recently co-authored an Assessment Guide for Advance HE and shared my views on learning frameworks with WONKHE. I am always interested to connect with professionals who wish to collaborate and learn together to best support students and staff in higher education. Find me on Bluesky @jacpotter.bsky.social
