Jackie Snell Artist Statement I look back on images of me growing up and there’s only one. M, at fifteen years old. Blank expressions staring out of a black and white image taken at the local photographers shop. I forget how much I paid; whatever it was it was not enough. It was cheap compared to not having paid anything at all and not having the image 46 years later. This is I historically! I look at images of my family and I know why there are no images of me in group shots. I was always the one taking the pictures. which seemed to be the only time my family took pictures. We took the usual zoo shots, lakefront, and playgrounds. Now we had Barbecues, baby showers, graduations, and the usual Christmas shots. We had New Years, Birthdays, Weddings, and babies being born. We had so many occasions that I started accumulating film piled in the drawer and I realized how expensive this photography thing was. In spite of the cost I discovered my love for photography. I discovered my love for all things computer related. Yes I am a self-prescribed geek, I strive to be. I soon bumped my camera up to a DSLR. My first was a Nikon D5o. I choose Nikon because I had used a Nikomate back in the Seventies working with one of the local School Photographers. There I learned about Hasselblands, Nikons, and Canons etc. I even at one time owned the first Canon EOS. It was a high end 35m and I was outclassed, I remember selling it to a friend who was more into photography than I. I have since regretted my decision to part with this camera. I love the fact that I am now able to pursue my love of Photography with the knowledge needed to produce high end, fine art photography, and documentary photos.
