About Jackie Thompson

Passionate Wet-Lab Scientist | Science Communicator | Open to New Opportunities As a synthetic biologist with four years of research experience across industry and academia, my work has focused primarily on leveraging my expertise in genetic design and engineering to help develop novel therapeutics. Currently, at Asimov, I specialize in screening large libraries of genetic parts to identify designs that will help our clients improve production of their target antibody or viral vector based therapy. Previously, at Synlogic, I engineered probiotic bacteria to secrete therapeutic proteins, degrade harmful metabolites, and display proteins of interest on the cell surface. Outside the lab, I am deeply committed to science communication and outreach. I believe in making science more accessible, whether through mentoring, teaching, or public engagement. I currently teach part-time at the BioBuilder Educational Foundation, where I help high school and middle school students explore synthetic biology and bioengineering through hands-on learning labs.
