About Jackie Weber

I am a public health emergency preparedness professional who dipped my toe into the world of digital services during the COVID-19 pandemic and became hooked on the possibility of how government can do better at creating more positive and accessible online experiences for users. With nearly 15 years working in local government, most of my career has been dedicated to public health emergency preparedness planning. I am fluent in NIMS and have been a strong advocate for public health having a seat at the emergency response table. I had several roles during Hennepin County's COVID response, one of which was coordinating the vaccine management system. During this project I very quickly learned the many ways government can choose to take small actions that create a more inclusive and welcoming online experience for residents. Using plain language matters. Creating digitally accessible spaces matters. Conducting user research and testing matters. Listening to user needs matters. Taking meaningful action matters. This effort put a spotlight on the ways government can choose to be more inclusive to community members when creating digital services. Currently, I proudly serve as the Digital Experience Coordinator in the county's new department, Digital Experience. This department works across the organization with key partners to coordinate and prioritize accessible end-to-end digital service experiences that centers residents' needs and voices, while building trust with community.
