About Jackson Faylor
Jackson Faylor was born and raised in Stockton, California, where he attended Lincoln High School. After graduating high school in 2015, he attended the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) as a chemical engineering undergraduate student. After two years at UNR, he moved home and transferred to Delta College in Stockton with the intent of transferring to either University of California, Davis or San Jose State University (SJSU). After two years at Delta, Jackson then transferred to SJSU to finish his degree in chemical engineering. During his second year at SJSU, Jackson learned about the new accelerated master’s program and immediately applied, as he was already intending on pursuing a master’s degree after graduation. As a senior, he started researching bioenergy with carbon capture and sequestration (BECCS) for his master’s degree under Dr. David Wagner. After graduating with his B.S. in chemical engineering in May of 2022, Jackson completed his M.S. in chemical engineering and graduated in May of 2023. As a researcher, Jackson focused on topics that could benefit the environment. He served as the design lead for his senior project group and used tools such as Aspen Plus, AutoCAD, and Excel to design a methane pyrolysis (hydrogen production from methane) process. Then as a graduate researcher, he worked to increase the energy produced by a bioenergy with carbon capture and sequestration process by reducing the energy needed for the carbon capture step. Following the completion of his master's degree, Jackson began working at Rushnu as a research and development engineer focussing on the design and scale-up of a point source carbon capture process. In this role, Jackson designed and performed bench scale experiments; designed, constructed, maintained, and operated a prototype of the process; aided in patent and grant proposal drafting, and performed a variety of other tasks. After working at Rushnu, Jackson returned to his alma mater, Lincoln High School, as a physics teacher. He also began pursuing a single subject teaching credential and a Master of Education with an emphasis in STEM education. He is targeting completion of this certificate and degree in spring in of 2026.
