About Jaclyn Tipton

Jaclyn graduated from Florida State University in 2018 with a Bachelors' Degree in English and a minor in Communications. She swiftly moved from her part-time position as Marketing Director at SolutionSkills, a local tutoring company, to her first full-time position at GloFX, a company that sells rave gear to people who attend EDM festivals. In 2020, Jaclyn decided that though she loved the marketing field, she wanted to market something she was passionate about; thus, she quit her job to open her online business, Jacko Loves You LLC, a shop that sold mental health awareness merchandise. After a year, Jaclyn decided that she hated owning a business and began her journey with NAMI Tallahassee. At the end of 2020, Jaclyn took a contract position with NAMI Tallahassee for two months, spreading awareness of NAMI services to the rural, surrounding counties of Leon. In 2021, Jaclyn got a job with the Apalachee Center as a Drop-In Peer Specialist, but NAMI Tallahassee called her back after 6 months, asking if she would apply to the Program Coordinator position opening up. Jaclyn jumped at the opportunity and has been working with NAMI since. In February 2024, Jaclyn moved NAMI roles to become the Director of Marketing & Communications. In this role, she works closely with social media, email & texting communication, event planning, fundraising, and more. Since working with NAMI Tallahassee, Jaclyn has been trained to be a facilitator for Connection Support Group and uses this training for NAMI Tallahassee's two off-shoot support groups for young adults and the LGBT+ community. She also is a qualified Lead Presenter for NAMI's Ending the Silence presentation, is certified to teach NAMI Provider Education training, and participated in NAMI Smarts training. On her public speaking journey, she has served on two panels: NAMI Florida Convention's plenary panel on young adult mental health and FSU's medical student panel on mental health in the healthcare system. She also regularly speaks to FSU's sorority Kappa Kappa Gamma and Keiser University's mental health classes and awareness events. Jaclyn also shares her lived experience as a peer to local NAMI Family-to-Family classes. Outside of work, Jaclyn is a writer, having an array of poems, short-stories, and articles published in various places, including Northwest Florida State College's Blackwater Review and the Tallahassee Democrat. She was awarded the Blackwater Review Editors' Pick Award for Fiction in 2015 and the Blackwater Review Editors' Pick Award for Excellence in Writing in 2016.
