About Jacob Bernstein

Since 2021, I have worked at 908 Devices on process analytical technologies for the life sciences. Previously, I developed novel instruments for ocean exploration and conservation, employing cutting-edge sensor technology to address problems where existing tools cannot be deployed at a cost and scale to effect change. I worked from first-principle analysis of sensor physics to adapt tools from fields like biomedical research, laser physics, and consumer electronics to the unique demands of ocean research, taking projects from seed to sea, working with scientists to understand their needs, designing sensor systems to meet their operational requirements, and joining expeditions to test their performance. Before that, I developed tools for brain-machine interfaces. Like the ocean, the brain is a salty medium that is hard to sense and hard on sensors, and ripe with opportunities to leverage advances in manufacturing methods, electronic hardware, and signal processing algorithms to have a transformative impact on important problems. I care deeply about applying my talents for the betterment of the world, and relish opportunities to work with people who feel the same way
