About Jacob Dingman

My inspiration for my professional career was sparked a few years after I had been diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. I had completed the Orton Gillingham approach in elementary school while simultaneously attending a Montessori school. Once i was removed from Montessori system in search of more resources and placed in the public system noticed that there were many individuals in my special education classes that were clearly very intelligent but lacked the support to thrive within the current education system. Since then my goal has been to change the education system to help support those with learning disabilities so that they can reach their full potential and receive the same opportunities they would if they were not LD. I started my academic career at TRU in Kamloops and then transferring to SFU in Vancouver to complete the degree in educational psychology. Through out my attendance of these academic institutions I have met with the heads of the accessibility resources and discussed and suggested improvements that could be made to better serve those with LD. I am currently trying to implement change in my current position at Metro Vancouver in the parks department. I am a member of the Diversity, Equity & inclusion board of Metro Vancouver as well as the newly formed Accessibility board of Metro Vancouver. I have experience with software such as Dragon naturally speaking and Kurzwell
