About Jacob Espittia

Alumnus of Florida Gulf Coast University and the University of Miami. In my current role as the Marine Recreational Inshore Fisheries Management Coordinator I work to manage Florida's most popular inshore fisheries using a holistic management approach. This approach uses multiple management metrics to evaluate these fisheries in smaller regions statewide. I coordinate with internal and external partners to compile, analyze, and disseminate this information to the public. Presenting our information at small groups, fishing clubs and public workshops increases my ability to explain the rationale behind management recommendations concisely. In 2023, I was awarded the 'Division of Marine Fisheries Management Greenhorn of the Year' which was awarded to a recently hired employee who showed extra effort to advance the mission of FWC and DMFM, excelling in their new position's duties and responsibilities.
