About Jacob Grant
I have several passions dealing with art. Creating functional and sculptural objects from the humble medium of clay has been my longest love relationship (going on 14 years now). Teaching in community and academic settings for 8 years has given me appreciation of the true meaning of art for all individuals.that being to exercise the creative mind. This has led to my desire of expanding art culture in whatever community I reside. Recently starting a very successful First Fridays open studio tour in Peoria IL is one of several examples. With only two years under our belt, Peoria's First Fridays has over 10 locations and over 50 artists that participate in this monthly community art event. The most recent excitement I have had is putting together a team of 5 Peoria artists (myself included) to win an NEA grant to develop a proposal for introducing public art into Peoria's poverty-stricken south side.
